Mathematics

In the Montessori approach to math, students learn through concrete, hands-on materials. As they progress they will move to abstract concepts, emphasizing understanding the quantity and the decimal system. All math materials are designed to help students understand mathematical concepts in a meaningful and engaging way. Sensory exploration is emphasized in this approach, which permits students to transition from tangible, concrete materials to abstract concepts at their own pace. The objective is to create a sturdy mathematical basis that is founded on comprehension rather than memorization.

English

The Montessori language approach develops language skills by engaging in hands-on experiences, starting with oral language and moving on to reading and writing. By engaging with materials that encourage vocabulary building, phonemic awareness, and grammar, they foster a love for language through exploration and self-expression.

Geography

Montessori geography explores the world through materials and activities that aid in the student’s understanding of a strong sense of place and global awareness. In order to gain an understanding of the world around them, they will begin by learning about continents, countries, and cultures. Exploring biomes, landforms, and ecosystems will be their next step as they advance.

Outdoor Classroom

A Montessori outdoor classroom is an extension of the traditional indoor Montessori environment. Children engage with nature through sensory experiences that are hands-on during outdoor learning. The goal of outdoor exploration is to foster exploration, creativity, and a connection to nature. We accomplish this by utilizing our garden program, working with our farm goats, exploring our 6 acres of land, and participating in different activities beyond the classroom.
